Romanian government designates Liberty Galați, Damen Shipyards Mangalia and Romaero as strategic operators to unlock wage payments

The Romanian government has added Liberty Galați, Damen Shipyards Mangalia and Romaero to its list of strategic economic operators, enabling legal mechanisms to pay outstanding salaries and maintain critical industrial operations, according to Forbes.

Impact on workforce

According to Economy Minister Irineu Darău, the measure directly affects over 4,500 employees, including those at Liberty Tubular.

It allows access to mechanisms such as the Guarantee Fund, particularly in cases of insolvency or restructuring, as reported by Radio România Actualități.

Economic significance

Liberty Galați employs 2,787 workers directly and supports up to 12,000 indirect jobs.

– Damen Shipyards Mangalia: 1,017 employees
– Romaero: 526 specialists
