Bergenbier S.A., part of Molson Coors Beverage Company, has published its seventh sustainability report, outlining the company’s environmental performance and resource consumption during 2025.

According to the report, Bergenbier reduced its water consumption by 17% compared with the previous year. The company also recorded a 1% decrease in electricity consumption and a 0.5% reduction in thermal energy use.

The brewery’s production facility in Ploiești and the company’s headquarters in Bucharest are now powered exclusively by electricity from renewable sources, according to Bergenbier.

All generated waste recovered

Bergenbier reported generating 3,769.79 tonnes of waste in 2025. The company said the entire amount was recovered through recycling or energy recovery, maintaining its target of sending no waste to landfill.

Changes were also introduced in the area of packaging. PET packaging used by the company contains more than 25% recycled PET as of 2025, while the cardboard trays used for Bergenbier and Caraiman canned multipacks are made entirely from recycled cardboard.

Overall, Bergenbier placed more than 33.2 million kilograms of packaging on the Romanian market during the year. The company says the packaging was managed in line with applicable recycling and recovery requirements.

Efficiency measures underpin resource savings

Bergenbier attributes the improvements in resource consumption to measures implemented across its production processes, as well as to the involvement of its operational teams.

Monica Constantin, Legal & Government Affairs Director at Bergenbier S.A., said sustainability remained a long-term commitment for the company despite the economic and fiscal pressures faced by businesses in 2025.

The company’s supply chain management also links the reported results to gradual improvements in production processes and greater operational efficiency.

“Reducing water and energy consumption, using electricity from renewable sources and fully recovering waste are the result of processes improved step by step and of the involvement of teams at the brewery and across the company,” said Iulius Chiriac, Supply Chain Director at Bergenbier.

The 2025 sustainability report is the seventh edition published by Bergenbier S.A. The full document, along with previous editions, is available on the company’s sustainability platform, prieteniresponsabili.ro.
