Cosmin Irava has taken on the position of Head of Operations Investments at METRO Romania, where he will be responsible for the strategic allocation of capital to operational projects and investment initiatives.
According to an announcement published by METRO Romania, Irava’s new responsibilities will focus on directing capital towards projects that support the company’s long-term development and operational objectives.
Irava joined METRO Romania in 2022 and has held several management positions within the company. He initially served as Head of Convenience Operations – Hard Franchise, before moving to the role of Head of Business Development at METRO Convenience in October 2024.
During his time in the convenience business, Irava was involved in projects aimed at expanding and developing the segment, including work on the operational framework and franchise model for LaDoiPași Extra. His responsibilities also included projects related to investments, store relocations and strategic partnerships.
More than two decades of retail experience
Cosmin Irava brings approximately 22 years of professional experience, with a career largely focused on retail management and business development.
Before joining METRO Romania, he spent nearly eight years with Auchan Retail Romania, where he held management positions including Store Director and Events Director.
His previous experience also includes several other management roles within the retail sector, contributing to his background in operations, business development and network management.
A new role focused on operational investments
In his new position at METRO Romania, Irava will move into a role with a stronger focus on investment planning and capital allocation for operational projects.
The appointment comes as part of the company’s ongoing development efforts and places his previous experience in convenience retail, business development and investment projects within a broader operational investment function.
METRO Romania operates in the wholesale sector, serving business customers across the country through its network of stores and digital services.
