The Green Breeze wind farm in Galați County has officially entered commercial operation after renewable energy company OX2 completed the handover of the project to its owner, Nala Renewables.

With an installed capacity of 99.2 MW, the wind farm is now generating renewable electricity and supplying it to Romania’s power grid. The energy produced by the project will be supplied to Apple under a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA).

16 Vestas turbines with a total capacity of nearly 100 MW

Green Breeze is located mainly in the commune of Cuca, Galați County, and consists of 16 Vestas V162 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 6.2 MW.

The project represents an important milestone for OX2 in Romania, as it is the company’s first wind farm in the country to reach commercial operation.

The project’s completion comes five years after OX2 entered the Romanian market.

For Nala Renewables, Green Breeze marks both the company’s entry into the Romanian market and its first wind power project.

“Green Breeze is a landmark achievement for Nala, marking both our entry into Romania and our first wind project,” said Remy Verot, Interim CEO of Nala Renewables.

According to Verot, the project developed together with OX2 demonstrates the company’s capabilities across the renewable energy value chain, from development and construction to long-term operations.

OX2’s Romanian portfolio exceeds 1.5 GW

OX2 has significantly expanded its presence in the Romanian market in recent years. The company’s portfolio in Romania currently exceeds 1.5 GW.

Of this capacity, four projects totaling approximately 600 MW are either under construction or preparing to enter the construction phase.

At the same time, OX2 is developing onshore wind, battery energy storage systems (BESS) and solar projects with a combined capacity of approximately 1 GW, currently at various stages of development.

The start of commercial operations at Green Breeze adds nearly 100 MW of renewable generation capacity to Romania’s energy sector and marks another step in the expansion of OX2’s renewable energy portfolio in the local market.
