An innovative idea born in Brașov
Adrian Trăsnea, founder of Eco Dome, has developed a concept of modular homes made of polystyrene and metal structures, produced in just two weeks. With an investment of 1.5 million lei, he built a production unit near Brașov where kits for these houses — priced just above €3,000 — are manufactured.
“About 10 years ago, I learned about the possibility of building a house entirely out of polystyrene panels. The idea seemed brilliant! If it had been true, such a house could have been manufactured in a factory with incredible productivity — several per day — installed on-site in a single day, cost up to one-tenth of a traditional house, and have a negligible heating cost,” said Adrian Trăsnea.

After years of testing, calculations, and redesigns, he built the first Eco Dome home in Brașov and proved its strength by placing a car on its roof. The 26.6 m² “red-stage” kit starts at €2,950, can be assembled in 1–2 days, and completed “white-stage” in two weeks.
Local manufacturing with a European vision
„To achieve higher productivity and a competitive price, such house kits must be produced using the injection molding method… They were delivered in two containers — each the size of a train car. Naturally, their price matches accordingly, A. Trăsnea explained.
The modular structures can be expanded or connected to form various shapes, from L or U layouts to clusters of dome-shaped units.
Looking ahead, Trăsnea’s ambitions extend beyond Romania: „In a few years, I want to have branches all across Europe… If many people can say, ‘I work for a multinational company,’ I’d like to be able to say, ‘I own a multinational that started in Romania!” he concluded.
