In just twenty years, Kaufland Romania has grown from 7 employees to nearly 18,000, becoming the country’s largest private employer and a consistent presence in Romania’s corporate rankings.

People, inclusion, and long-term development
“Our HR strategy always starts with people — their real needs, and our desire to offer a place where they can grow, feel respected, and appreciated,” said Laura Iancu, HR Director for Kaufland Romania and the Republic of Moldova.
In 2025, Kaufland was certified for the 10th consecutive year by the Top Employers Institute, confirming its strong organizational culture and commitment to employee well-being.
Through its Internship, Trainee, and Dual Study programs, the company supports young people entering the workforce. Employees also benefit from flexible schedules, including 2-, 4-, or 6-hour shifts and remote work where applicable.
Launched in 2019, the A.C.C.E.S. program remains Romania’s most extensive inclusion initiative for people with disabilities, setting a national benchmark in workplace diversity.
Today, Kaufland is not just a retail leader but a Romanian superbrand — a reliable employer, a growth engine, and a long-term partner for the national economy.
