€12.5 million deal includes assets and environmental liabilities
Romania’s Consiliul Concurenței is reviewing the sale of ArcelorMittal Hunedoara to UMB Steel, assessing its compliance with competition law.
According to filings with the Bursa de Valori București, UMB Steel will acquire all tangible assets, including the electric arc furnace, rolling mill, ladle furnace, vacuum degassing unit, industrial cranes, locomotives and scrap-processing equipment, along with land, buildings and slag facilities.

The deal excludes IT infrastructure and software systems. UMB Steel will also assume environmental liabilities and existing integrated environmental permits.
Production at ArcelorMittal Hunedoara stopped in September 2025. The transaction value stands at €12.5 million plus VAT, with completion expected by June 1, 2026.
