The bypass road for the city of Sighișoara, the first project of this type in Mureș County to enter the execution phase, has received its construction permit from the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure.
The final procedural step before construction begins is the issuance of the order to start works by the Regional Directorate of Roads and Bridges Brașov. The estimated construction period is 31 months and 11 days.
Investment of over RON 570 million

The project has a total value of RON 572.22 million.
- RON 192.85 million represents non-refundable funding provided by the Ministry of Transport
- the remaining amount comes from EU funds through the Transport Programme 2021–2027
The financing contract was signed on October 9, 2025, between the Ministry of Transport and CNAIR.
In 2024, the Romanian Government approved the expropriation decision, allocating RON 4.18 million for privately owned properties. The design phase was later extended after issues identified during geotechnical studies.
Project details
The Sighișoara bypass will have a total length of 13.057 km, with one lane in each direction.
The route will:
- branch off from DN13 at km 108+600, near Albești
- reconnect to DN13 at km 123+120, in the Hetiur area
The bypass aims to divert transit and heavy traffic away from the city, improving mobility, reducing congestion and increasing road safety in Sighișoara.
