A Romanian platform is introducing a digital way for parents to organize gifts for their children through online wish lists. TinyList allows parents to create a list of products they need or want and share it with family members and friends.
The concept, commonly known in international markets as a “baby registry,” is designed to reduce situations in which children receive duplicate gifts or products that are not needed by the family.
How the platform works
Parents create a list of products they would like to receive and share it with guests attending an event. Family members and friends can then browse the list and choose which gift they want to purchase.
The system can also be used for more expensive products, allowing several people to contribute toward a single gift. This gives groups of guests the option to jointly purchase a higher-value item instead of buying several smaller gifts separately.
For baby showers organized as surprises for the expectant mother, the list can also be created and managed by the person organizing the event, such as a friend, sister or godmother.
“As a father of three, I have seen firsthand how many duplicate or unsuitable gifts end up in the homes of young families. TinyList started from this exact issue: helping parents receive the things they actually need, while making it easier for those giving gifts to know they are choosing something appropriate,” says Ovidiu Drăgan, co-founder of TinyList.
A model already used in other markets
The baby registry concept has been used for years in markets such as the United States, where expectant parents can create lists of products they need before the birth of their child. TinyList aims to adapt this type of service to the Romanian market.
“With TinyList, we are trying to address a real gap in the Romanian market. Baby registry platforms are already widely used in markets such as the US, and we are bringing this model to Romania in a form adapted to local families. The idea is simple: parents create their list, guests choose what they want to give, and everyone knows the gift will be useful,” adds Sandu Băbășan, TinyList technology partner.
The platform can be used for various occasions, including christenings, baby showers, gender reveal parties, birthdays and other events where family members and friends give gifts to a child.
TinyList is available online at tinylist.ro.
