The Expansion Will Boost Production and Support Urban Consumption Trends

Romanian nut processor Transilvania Nuts, owned by entrepreneurs Levente Bara and Alexandru Chiric, is investing over €10 million in a new factory set to open early next year in Ciugud, Alba County.

Located next to its existing facility, the new unit will significantly increase production capacity, diversify the company’s portfolio, and enhance packaging flexibility to meet growing demand for convenience and on-the-go products.

“The new facility will bring a major boost in capacity, operational efficiency, and product diversity while allowing greater flexibility in packaging solutions, in line with modern consumption trends,” said Valentin Stăncioiu, Commercial Director at Transilvania Nuts.

According to co-founder Levente Bara, 65% of the investment is funded through European grants. The company opened its first factory in 2019, processing around 10,000 tons of nuts per year. The new plant will further strengthen Transilvania Nuts’ position as a key player in Romania’s food processing sector.

In 2024, the company reported revenues of 110.7 million lei (over €22 million), reflecting continued growth and strong market demand.
This investment marks another step in Transilvania Nuts’ long-term strategy to expand both domestically and internationally while promoting innovation in healthy food production.
