The new Renault Twingo: sub-€20,000 city EV that will inspire the next Dacia Spring

Compact, efficient, and retro-inspired, Renault’s most affordable EV debuts with 263 km range

Renault has unveiled the all-new Twingo Electric, the third model in its retro-inspired EV lineup after the Renault 4 and Renault 5. Priced below €20,000, the new Twingo will be the brand’s most compact and affordable EV, serving as the foundation for the next-generation Dacia Spring.

Drawing inspiration from the iconic 1990s Twingo, the new model was developed with Chinese partners under the “Leap 100” program — aiming to bring a new car to production within 100 weeks. Manufacturing will take place at Renault’s Novo Mesto plant in Slovenia.

Powered by a 27.5 kWh LFP battery, Twingo offers up to 263 km of range in urban conditions and a top speed of 130 km/h. Standard AC charging at 6.6 kW completes a full charge in 4 hours and 15 minutes, while optional 11 kW AC or 50 kW DC fast charging reduces charging time to just 30 minutes (10–80%).

Weighing 1,200 kg, Twingo joins models like the Citroën e-C3 and Dacia Spring in the growing category of affordable European-made EVs.

Inside, the cabin combines simplicity with technology: a 10-inch infotainment screen, 7-inch digital cluster, OpenR Link multimedia system with Google built-in, and over-the-air software updates. The sliding rear seats and fold-flat front passenger seat offer up to 2 meters of cargo space.

Built on the new AmpR Small platform, the Twingo will share its architecture with future Dacia and Nissan EVs, supporting faster development and reduced production costs.
