The Digital Europe Programme is delivering a strong impact on Europe’s digital transformation, according to a mid-term evaluation published by the European Commission and cited by Agerpres. The report highlights tangible results achieved since the programme’s launch for the 2021–2027 period.
Exascale computing, digital innovation hubs and advanced digital skills across the EU
Key achievements include funding JUPITER, Europe’s first exascale supercomputer, which supports AI factory initiatives and European common data spaces.
In addition, the programme enabled the launch of 169 European Digital Innovation Hubs across the EU, supporting more than 90,000 companies and organisations.
Backed by a total budget of €8.16 billion, Digital Europe has delivered progress across all strategic areas. Over 20,700 people received advanced digital skills training, while large-scale open testing and experimentation facilities for artificial intelligence were established to improve and validate AI models. The programme also set up five state-of-the-art facilities dedicated to developing next-generation chip technologies and models.
The mid-term evaluation confirms that Digital Europe acts as a strategic driver for digital adoption, strengthening Europe’s technological capabilities and long-term competitiveness.
