Google and Apple have issued internal warnings to employees working in the United States on visas, advising them to avoid international travel for the time being, according to Business Insider.
Unusual delays in H-1B visa processing raise risk of being stranded abroad
The move follows unusually long and unpredictable delays in processing work visas, particularly H-1B visas. The warnings are based on internal memos from immigration law firms representing the two tech giants. BAL Immigration Law, which works with Google, and Fragomen, Apple’s immigration counsel, cautioned that employees without a valid visa stamp risk being unable to return to the US for an indefinite period.

“Given recent updates and the possibility of extended and unpredictable delays when re-entering the US, we strongly recommend that employees without a valid H-1B visa stamp avoid international travel at this time,” Fragomen stated in a memo cited by Business Insider.
A spokesperson for the US Department of State confirmed that American embassies are now prioritising more thorough visa reviews, leading to significant delays in consular interviews. Reports indicate that hundreds of Indian tech professionals have faced cancelled or rescheduled interviews, amid expanded social media screening requirements.
