Charlie Ottley, British writer and filmmaker, is launching an international tour of screenings and cultural events aimed at promoting Romania worldwide. The initiative is carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Economy, Digitalization, Entrepreneurship and Tourism (MEDAT), with support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE), according to Agerpres.
The tour will reach several major capitals and cities, including Thailand, Malaysia, Chile, Peru, Colombia, and the United Kingdom. Its goal is to present Romania to an international audience of government officials, opinion leaders, and tourism industry representatives.

According to a MEDAT statement, the events feature screenings of the documentary series Flavours of Romania, currently available on Netflix Romania. The approximately 75-minute film includes selections from seasons two and three, highlighting Romania’s nine historical regions.
The screenings are organized in partnership with Romania’s embassies in the host countries and are complemented by presentations, Q&A sessions with Charlie Ottley and Oana Mihai, as well as networking moments and culinary promotion.

I also thank Minister Oana Țoiu and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for their essential contribution,” said Irineu Darău, Romania’s Minister of Economy, Digitalization, Entrepreneurship and Tourism.
Charlie Ottley emphasized that misconceptions about Romania persist and that direct engagement is key to changing perceptions.
“Oana and I had already planned this journey to reconnect with friends and family, but following discussions with the Ministry of Economy, Digitalization, Entrepreneurship and Tourism, we decided to organize screenings in every capital we visit. I hope this initiative will allow us to showcase Romania’s appeal to international audiences, stimulate tourism, and encourage closer cooperation. There are still too many misconceptions about Romania, and the only way to overcome them is to be present, to go out into the world, and show people what an extraordinary country we have,” Ottley said.
