Tesla has officially launched its fleet of fully autonomous robotaxis in the state of Texas, marking a major milestone in the evolution of urban mobility. The first vehicles are now operating in Austin and Houston, available through the Tesla Ride app.
The robotaxis, based on an upgraded version of the Tesla Model 3, come without a steering wheel or pedals and are fully managed by Tesla’s advanced Full Self-Driving (FSD) system. After months of real-world testing, the vehicles have received state approval for commercial operation.
“Texas offers the perfect environment for rolling out this groundbreaking project,” said a Tesla spokesperson. “The state’s infrastructure, regulatory openness, and high demand for smart transport solutions made it an ideal choice.”
The robotaxi service is initially available in select downtown and residential areas, with plans to expand to suburbs and airports by the end of the year. Pricing will be competitive with traditional ride-sharing platforms, but Tesla promises enhanced safety, comfort, and efficiency.
Early passenger feedback has been largely positive. Some users described the experience as “futuristic” and “much more peaceful than a regular taxi.”
With this launch, Tesla reinforces its leadership in autonomous driving technology and appears determined to redefine how people travel in modern cities.
