Caterpillar Inc. Celebrates 100 Years of Innovation and Industry Leadership

Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE: CAT) has announced the celebration of its 100th anniversary by participating in global events that highlight this significant milestone in the company’s history. Recognized as the world’s largest manufacturer in its sector, the company officially turns 100 on April 15, 2025, marking a century of customer-focused innovation and leadership in transforming the construction industry.

In 1925, Holt Manufacturing and C.L. Best Tractor Co. merged to form what was then known as Caterpillar Tractor Co. From the company’s first tracked tractor, designed to pull combine harvesters in Northern California, to today’s autonomous construction and mining equipment, Caterpillar’s products and services have helped customers complete projects that have significantly shaped the world as we know it.

“Our success over the past 100 years is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our employees, the ongoing trust of our customers, and the support of our dealers and business partners,” said Jim Umpleby, Chairman and CEO of Caterpillar. “I am proud to lead such a strong team and am confident that, over the next 100 years, Caterpillar will continue to help customers build a better and more sustainable world.”

Celebrating Caterpillar’s Centennial with Employees, Customers, and Communities

Anniversary events have taken place in Sanford, North Carolina, and Peoria, Illinois. At the company’s global headquarters in Irving, Texas, the families of company founders C.L. Best and Benjamin Holt joined company leaders and employees to celebrate 100 years of innovation as Caterpillar embarks on its next century.

The Centennial World Tour is traveling to Caterpillar locations worldwide, offering an interactive and immersive experience for employees and visitors. Additionally, the company is commemorating this milestone with limited-edition “Centennial Grey” equipment, available for purchase in 2025.

Caterpillar invites employees, customers, and partners worldwide to join the centennial celebration throughout the year. To learn more about Caterpillar’s 100-year anniversary, visit caterpillar.com/100.
