A Major Step for DHL’s Operations in Romania

DHL Express Romania, part of the German group Deutsche Post DHL, inaugurated on Wednesday its new operational headquarters in VGP Park Bucharest North — the company’s most significant investment in recent years on the Romanian market.

Located in Ștefăneștii de Jos, the new facility is DHL’s first carbon-neutral operational center in the country and represents an investment of over €5 million.

The hub specializes in processing parcels arriving in Bucharest by air and road from all over the world. Covering a total area of 4,130 square meters — with 3,604 sqm dedicated to parcel processing and 526 sqm to office space — the center includes 23 parking spaces and a maximum sorting capacity of 2,800 pieces per hour.

“The new operational headquarters in Bucharest is designed to meet the evolving needs of Romanian companies and to support them in expanding their presence on international markets. The facility enables faster and more efficient operations for our partners, while also providing our team with a modern and comfortable working environment. After nearly 35 years of presence in Romania, we continue to invest in infrastructure that connects the Romanian economy with the entire world,” said Bogdan Enache, General Manager of DHL Express Romania.

Efficiency, Sustainability, and Expansion

The new facility serves Bucharest and nearby areas through 40 delivery routes. Half of the vehicle fleet operating from this location is already electric, and DHL plans to significantly increase the number of electric vehicles nationwide in the coming years.

“Fast-growing markets such as Romania help us leverage geographic advantages and support our customers to thrive in a continuously changing global trade landscape,” added Mike Parra, CEO of DHL Express Europe.

DHL Express currently operates in Romania with around 500 employees, three aircraft, and a fleet of over 200 vehicles, ensuring full national coverage through more than 40 locations across the country’s main cities. Globally, DHL employs around 400,000 people in over 220 countries and generated revenues of more than €84.2 billion in 2024.
