Deal boosts the group’s Building Solutions strategy

According to Forbes, Holcim has acquired Alkern, a French producer of precast concrete elements, the company announced in a press release. Alkern is expected to generate net sales of around €250 million in 2025.

Founded in 1972, Alkern employs approximately 1,000 people and operates more than 50 production sites across France and Belgium. The company delivers precast concrete solutions for sustainable construction, alongside products for the built environment spanning infrastructure, industrial projects, and residential and commercial buildings.

The acquisition expands Holcim’s portfolio with complementary solutions for masonry, flooring, and water management, which can be integrated across a wide range of construction projects. It also supports Holcim’s strategic ambition for Building Solutions to account for 50% of net sales by 2030.

“Alkern’s precast concrete offering in France, combined with its masonry, flooring, and water management solutions, is highly complementary to Holcim’s portfolio and will enable us to further expand our value-added Building Solutions segment,” said Dragan Maksimovic, Region Head West Europe at Holcim.

From a financial standpoint, the transaction is expected to deliver tangible benefits, with estimated annual savings and operational efficiencies of around €11 million starting from the third year following completion.

Headquartered in Switzerland, Holcim is a leading global player in sustainable construction. The group reported net sales of CHF 16.2 billion in 2024 and employs more than 45,000 people across 44 markets in Europe, Latin America, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.
