Harry Ramsden’s, one of the UK’s most iconic and respected fish & chips brands, has officially announced its entry into the Romanian market through an exclusive development partnership with Horeca Group SRL. Romania becomes the first country in Central and Eastern Europe to host Harry Ramsden’s restaurants, capitalising on growing demand and limited competition in the segment.
Founded in 1928, Harry Ramsden’s is globally recognised for its classic fish & chips recipe. The Romanian launch represents a new chapter in the brand’s European expansion, backed by a multi-stage growth strategy.

In 2026, the company plans to open its first restaurant in Romania in March, followed by a second location later the same year. In 2027, the focus will shift to accelerated expansion in major shopping centres across Bucharest. From 2028, the brand aims to enter Romania’s largest cities and strengthen its nationwide presence.

The partnership is led by Horeca Group SRL, whose representatives point to both industry experience and the strength of the brand as key drivers behind the decision.
“It all started with a passion for HoReCa, the field I grew up in alongside my family. After nearly ten years in banking, my desire to return to entrepreneurship pushed me to look for a strong concept for Bucharest. I considered building my own brand, but chose Harry Ramsden’s for its almost 100-year tradition and high standards. I firmly believe this concept will succeed in Romania,” said Iulian-Nicușor Bolnavu, main partner and coordinator of Horeca Group SRL.
Beyond restaurant development, the partnership also includes plans for a later expansion into modern retail, with Harry Ramsden’s products expected to become available in hypermarkets.
