MedLife, Romania’s leading private healthcare provider, has reached a market capitalization of €1 billion on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB), becoming the most valuable healthcare company in the country. The milestone marks a significant moment for both the local capital market and the development of the private medical sector.
Rapid expansion and investments in advanced technologies
According to the statement cited by Agerpres, MedLife has carried out one of the most ambitious expansion programs in Romania’s private sector, completing more than 60 acquisitions and building an integrated national medical platform. The company has consistently invested in technology, artificial intelligence, robotics, drones, and medical teams, helping millions of patients access modern, high-quality healthcare services.

MedLife has also played an essential role in shaping the Romanian capital market, contributing to higher standards of transparency, reporting, and corporate governance.
Mihai Marcu, President and CEO of MedLife Group, highlighted both the challenging context and the long-term development strategy:
“We are navigating a complex period, marked by economic, social, and geopolitical pressures. Still, we believe Romania has the opportunity to move in the right direction. We remain focused on innovation and medical research: genomics, artificial intelligence – especially in imaging and laboratory –, prevention programs, and personalized medicine projects. (…) Given the budget deficit and recent corrective measures, retail sales have decreased, and the private medical sector has slightly slowed. However, I am confident that gradually, perhaps beginning in the second quarter of next year, we will be able to return to sustainable growth.”
MedLife’s position in the healthcare market
MedLife operates the most extensive network of clinics in Romania, along with major laboratory, general, and specialty hospital networks. It also holds the largest corporate client base for preventive healthcare programs. From a revenue perspective, MedLife ranks among the most significant private healthcare providers in Central and Eastern Europe.
