The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania (MAE) reported a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) cyberattack that temporarily disrupted the platforms eviza.mae.ro and econsulat.ro, according to Wall-Street.
The incident was detected on the afternoon of March 13 and during the night of March 13–14, with all digital systems currently operating normally, officials confirmed.

Temporary disruptions to key platforms
Following the attack, both platforms experienced slowdowns and became temporarily inaccessible to users.
MAE stated that protection systems and technical teams acted promptly to mitigate the impact.
“All digital systems are now functioning normally after swift intervention from our teams,” the institution said.
What a DDoS attack means
According to MAE, DDoS attacks involve artificially overloading traffic to disrupt access to online services.
Such attacks do not involve data breaches or unauthorized access, and are not equivalent to hacking incidents.
“No sensitive information was accessed. The main impact was temporary service disruption for citizens,” officials added.
Rising global trend
The ministry noted that the frequency of such attacks is increasing globally, with Romanian government platforms being targeted multiple times in recent years.
Authorities stated they will continue working with specialized institutions to ensure system protection and service continuity.
