Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang visited South Korea for the first time in 15 years to announce new AI collaboration plans with Hyundai Motor, Samsung, SK Group, and Naver. During the APEC 2025 Summit, Nvidia and the South Korean government unveiled an expanded partnership to strengthen the nation’s AI infrastructure and accelerate innovation, TechCrunch reports.

The government will deploy over 260,000 next-generation Nvidia GPUs to meet rising AI demand — around 50,000 for public initiatives, including a national AI data center and domestic foundation model development, while over 200,000 GPUs will support companies such as Samsung, SK, Hyundai, and Naver in AI-driven manufacturing, robotics, and smart mobility.

The announcement follows recent U.S. agreements with Japan and South Korea aimed at deepening cooperation in AI, semiconductors, quantum computing, biotechnology, and 6G.

Smart factories, AI-RAN, and autonomous mobility

Samsung will build an “AI Megafactory” with Nvidia, integrating AI across semiconductor, mobile, and robotics production using over 50,000 Blackwell GPUs and Nvidia’s Omniverse platform. The long-time partners are also developing HBM4, next-generation memory for future AI applications.

In collaboration with SK Telecom, KT, LG Uplus, and ETRI, Nvidia and Samsung will co-develop AI-RAN, a system that merges AI with mobile base stations to boost performance and reduce power consumption.

Meanwhile, Hyundai Motor Group and Nvidia are building AI-driven infrastructure for smart mobility, focusing on autonomous driving, robotics, and industrial automation. “AI is transforming every industry, and together with Hyundai Motor Group, we are building intelligent cars and factories that will shape the multi-trillion-dollar future of mobility,” said Jensen Huang, Nvidia CEO.

These partnerships position South Korea as a leading hub for AI, semiconductor innovation, and industrial robotics on the global stage.
