Natural gas output offsets slight drop in crude oil production

OMV Petrom recorded a hydrocarbon production of 104,800 barrels of oil equivalent per day in the third quarter of 2025. This represents a 2.5% increase compared to the previous quarter but a 2.24% decline compared to the same period last year, according to data released Thursday by the Bucharest Stock Exchange.

Production of crude oil and condensate reached 47,900 boe/day, down 1.04% from the second quarter, while natural gas production rose to 57,000 boe/day, marking a 6% increase, according to Agerpres.

Significant rise in energy and refined product sales

Total hydrocarbon sales reached 100,600 boe/day, up 3.8% from the previous quarter. Crude oil and condensate sales rose slightly by 0.4%, to 50,200 boe/day, while natural gas sales grew by 7.23%, reaching 50,400 boe/day.

Refined product sales also saw a sharp increase of nearly 12%, totaling 1.5 million tonnes. Gas sales to third parties amounted to 8.94 TWh, up 10.7%.

Net electricity production at the Brazi gas-fired power plant reached 1.27 TWh, more than double the output recorded in the previous quarter (0.6 TWh).

OMV Petrom remains the largest integrated energy producer in South-Eastern Europe, with an annual oil and gas output of around 40 million boe in 2024. The group operates a refining capacity of 4.5 million tonnes per year and a high-efficiency 860 MW gas-fired power plant. It is also active in the retail fuel market in Romania and neighboring countries through a network of approximately 780 filling stations, under the OMV and Petrom brands.
