Starting January 19, 2026, Romanian vegetable growers and potato farmers will be able to access European funds dedicated to investments in this sector. According to representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MADR), the total allocated budget exceeds €151 million.

The funding is distributed across several categories: more than €70.3 million is allocated to individual vegetable farms, €51 million targets the potato sector, and €30 million is reserved for associative forms operating in vegetable production.

“The maximum value of non-reimbursable support can reach up to €2,000,000 per project, up to €300,000 per project for machinery used for crops other than potatoes, up to €700,000 per project for machinery dedicated to potato cultivation, and up to €700,000 per project for agricultural machinery acquired by associative forms,” MADR stated.

Through the DR-16 intervention, farmers can finance the establishment and development of vegetable and potato farms, investments in protected spaces such as greenhouses and solariums, the purchase of agricultural machinery and equipment, as well as conditioning and storage units.

Eligible investments also include farm-level irrigation systems and water storage facilities, considered secondary components. In addition, projects may cover equipment designed to warn against and mitigate the effects of extreme weather events.

Farm-level processing investments are also eligible as secondary components, helping producers increase added value and improve market competitiveness.
