For babies born prematurely, every day brings a new challenge. Each gram gained, each steady breath and each tiny smile represent an extraordinary achievement. In Romania, thousands of infants arrive before term—about 10% of all births—and some weigh as little as 500 grams, yet their resilience remains remarkable.
Since 2018, Pampers, a Procter & Gamble brand, has continued to donate specialized diapers to Romanian maternity hospitals to ensure that every premature newborn receives proper care from the very start. Pampers Preemie Protection diapers are three times smaller than standard newborn diapers and are designed to suit the delicate skin of these vulnerable babies.

Developed together with NICU nurses, these diapers address the specific needs of premature infants during their critical early days. Soft fibers and gentle cuffs protect fragile skin, thousands of micropores help maintain dryness through improved airflow, and the absorbent layer combined with double-cuff sides prevents leaks.
In 2025, Pampers is celebrating the strength of these little fighters with the “Sweet Victories” collection, a series of symbolic cakes highlighting the progress of premature babies. The initiative also reflects the emotional journey of parents who face uncertainty and fear until the long-awaited moment of discharge. It is a message of solidarity meant to remind families that they are not alone.
“For a mother whose baby is born prematurely, the journey from the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit to home is a succession of risks, emotions, and challenges. (…) I welcome Pampers’ initiative to donate diapers specially designed for premature babies, and I thank them for being a strategic partner since 2018—dedicated to these children who need real chances, not just hope,” said Corina Croitoru, founding member and president of ARNIS – the Romanian Association for Long-Hospitalized Newborns.”
