Romania becomes a strategic hub for the Eastern Balkans
PepsiCo, a global leader in the food and beverage industry, has inaugurated a new canning line at its Dragomirești-Deal factory in Ilfov County. The $8.5 million investment is the only PepsiCo unit of its kind in the Eastern Balkans, strengthening Romania’s position as a strategic production hub.

The new line represents a major step in modernizing and optimizing local operations, coming just two years after PepsiCo commissioned its most automated bottling line in Europe, following a $13 million investment in 2023.

The facility now operates seven production lines with an annual capacity exceeding 500 million liters of beverages, of which 15–20% are exported to Central and Southeastern European markets.

High performance and sustainability impact
Fully automated, the new line can produce up to 1.5 million cans per day, covering PepsiCo East Balkans’ full beverage portfolio – Pepsi, Mirinda, 7Up, Mountain Dew, and Lipton – in 250 ml, 330 ml, and 500 ml formats.

The investment also delivers major environmental benefits: the plant’s carbon footprint will be reduced by around 210 tons of CO₂ per year, water use will decrease by 20%, and energy efficiency will improve through advanced production technologies.

„We take pride in having the most automated bottling line in PepsiCo’s European portfolio, and now we’re adding to our operations the only beverage canning line in the Eastern Balkans. This investment marks a new stage in the modernization and development of our operations in Romania. The beverages produced in Dragomirești-Deal reach consumers across seven markets, positioning us as a strategic production and distribution hub for Central and South-Eastern Europe.”, said Radu Berevoescu, General Manager PepsiCo East Balkans.

Through this investment, Romania reinforces its role as a key node in PepsiCo’s European network, supporting regional growth, innovation, and long-term sustainability goals.
