Romgaz has launched a tender worth 4.6 million lei for audit services of its gas reserves and resources. The auditor will assess the proven, probable, and potential resources for each gas perimeter, using documents provided by Romgaz as well as data from institutions such as the National Agency for Mineral Resources (NAMR) and the Ministry of Energy.
Company representatives explained that the audit is necessary to “gain the confidence of the investment community” and increase transparency, considering that Romgaz is listed on the stock exchange. In addition, the company aims for an updated overview, taking into account depleted reservoirs, new discoveries, and the impact of modern technologies on the recovery rate of gas from wells.
Structure of the Final Report

The contract requires the delivery of a final report that “will highlight the results of the audit of resources and reserves and will be structured as follows:
- The text will present each field or group of fields, the methodology, and the basis of reserve estimation.
- Tables including:
– A list of all evaluated fields and Romgaz’s participation quota in each of them.
– A summary table of total gross and net reserves.
– A table of net reserves per field.
– A table on the recovery rate per field. - Annexes including maps, geological cross-sections, or other general diagrams.”
The preliminary report must be delivered by May 31, 2026, while the final report with all conclusions is due by May 31, 2028. The evaluation will be based on the reference date of December 31, 2025.
Romgaz and Petrom jointly ensure Romania’s annual gas production, estimated at around 9 billion cubic meters. The majority shareholder of Romgaz is the Romanian state, through the Ministry of Energy.
