Salt Bank has unveiled a new campaign focused on helping shelter animals, developed in partnership with the Kola Kariola Association and running from November 25 to December 20, 2025. Throughout this period, the bank will match every donation received by the organization, effectively doubling the funds available for food, medical treatments and general care for rescued dogs and cats.
The initiative has two main goals: encouraging adoption and offering additional support for animals that still have no family. To make the adoption process easier, Salt Bank has created a dedicated section on its website, where people can see the animals currently waiting for a home, read their stories and access clear instructions on how adoption works.

For individuals who cannot adopt right now, the bank highlights the option of donating directly to the association’s official accounts. Romania continues to face a major challenge regarding stray animals — an estimated 6 million dogs and cats live on the streets — while shelters across the country have limited capacity. Abandonment cases have increased, a trend observed even in wealthy countries where the rising cost of living puts pressure on pet owners.
Since 2014, Kola Kariola has provided rescue, medical care and shelter for thousands of animals, managing to rehome hundreds of them. The collaboration with Salt Bank aims to amplify the visibility of the association’s efforts and secure additional resources needed for proper care, treatments and daily operations.
According to Salt Bank representatives, this initiative is as much about community awareness as it is about financial support. The campaign combines digital tools, promotion and matched donations in order to encourage more adoptions and improve the living conditions of animals currently in the association’s care.
