Leadership transition begins as restructuring plan reaches key milestones
Costin Iordache, CEO of Romania’s flag carrier TAROM, submitted his resignation on December 19, 2025, citing personal reasons, Agerpres reports. He will remain in office until January 15, 2026, while the Board of Directors appoints an interim CEO to ensure management continuity.
According to TAROM, Iordache leaves after completing most of the measures included in the restructuring plan approved by the European Commission, which focused on securing state aid, reducing debt and returning the airline to profitability.

“On December 19, 2025, Costin Iordache, the General Director of TAROM, submitted his mandate for personal reasons, after successfully carrying out most actions required under the restructuring plan approved by the European Commission,” the company stated. TAROM highlights that, together with a management team largely recruited from the private sector, Iordache helped secure financial stability and a return to profit.
In parallel, the Board of Directors will begin the recruitment process for a permanent CEO through the Nomination and Remuneration Committee, supported by an external consultant.
The airline reiterates that its priority remains the “completion and implementation of the restructuring plan, to revitalize the company and transform it into a modern and profitable organization.”
Founded in 1954, TAROM operates under the Romanian Ministry of Transport, is a member of SkyTeam since 2010 and currently flies a fleet of 15 aircraft, serving over 50 destinations through own services and code share partnerships. The airline has been a member of IATA since 1993.
