The University of Bucharest, in partnership with the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Romania, will host on Saturday, November 1, 2025, a special event featuring the live broadcast of the official inauguration of the Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo.
The event will take place at 6:30 PM, in the “Ion Mihăilescu” Amphitheatre of the Faculty of Sociology and Social Work, bringing together members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Bucharest, as well as representatives of the academic and cultural community.

Open to students, faculty members, and anyone fascinated by Egyptian civilization, the event celebrates the opening of the world’s largest archaeological museum, located near the Giza pyramids.
“The museum will host over 100,000 artefacts, including the pharaoh Tutankhamun’s collection of more than 5,000 items. With an area of 50 hectares and over five million visitors expected annually, the Grand Egyptian Museum is regarded as a project of global significance, designed to redefine cultural tourism and the promotion of world heritage,” representatives of the University of Bucharest stated.
