Vodafone and the Vodafone Foundation have announced a new donation to Salvamont Romania, consisting of a complete package of aerial intervention equipment for all county and local public rescue services. The total value of the donation amounts to €150,000, according to a statement sent to TechRider.ro.

Each Salvamont team will receive a kit including a DJI Mavic 3T drone equipped with thermal imaging and optical zoom, RC Pro Enterprise controller, intelligent batteries and all necessary accessories for operation in challenging conditions. The new equipment will also be integrated into the recently introduced intervention vehicles.

According to Vodafone, the technology provides extended autonomy and high accuracy in locating injured or missing persons, especially in hard-to-reach mountainous areas where rapid response is crucial.

The partnership between Vodafone and Salvamont has lasted for more than 20 years. During this period, the company’s technological solutions have supported over 110,000 rescue missions and contributed to saving more than 130,000 lives. In 2024 alone, Salvamont teams carried out 6,509 missions and assisted 7,562 people, maintaining a 100% response rate through the National Dispatch Center.

“This investment marks a new stage in a landmark partnership in Romania, where technology has played a decisive role in numerous interventions,” said Nedim Baytorun, CEO of Vodafone Romania.

Salvamont representatives highlight the increasing pressure on rescue teams. “From year to year, missions are becoming more frequent, and every minute counts. When human resources are not enough, technology becomes an indispensable partner,” said Sabin Cornoiu, President of Salvamont Romania.

Currently, Salvamont operates over 150 aerial and aquatic drones, many acquired with the support of Vodafone and the Vodafone Foundation. In 2025 alone, these devices were involved in more than 300 rescue operations and directly contributed to saving five lives over the past 12 months. An additional 40 drones will become operational following the new donation.

Vodafone emphasized that the initiative is part of its “Tech for Good” strategy, which supports social, educational and sustainability projects through the responsible use of technology.
