International AI technology company Wonderful continues its global expansion by opening a new office in Romania, appointing Lucia Stoicescu as Country Manager to lead local operations.
This step marks an important milestone in Wonderful’s growth strategy, as the company aims to build a strong network of regional hubs dedicated to implementing its conversational AI solutions. The move follows a $34 million Seed funding round, led by Index Ventures and joined by Bessemer Venture Partners and Vine Ventures, which collectively manage over $20 billion in assets.

Wonderful has developed a platform of autonomous AI agents capable of communicating fluently in more than 20 European languages, including Romanian. The system is used in call centers and customer support, enabling natural interactions through voice, chat, or email. Unlike traditional IVR systems, Wonderful’s agents can recognize emotions, adjust tone and pace, and filter background noise, creating a more human-like experience.
“The integration of artificial intelligence is the greatest competitive advantage of our time. Romania has all the ingredients to become a regional AI hub: a strong base of IT professionals, a solid BPO industry, and a high appetite for innovation,” said Lucia Stoicescu, Country Manager of Wonderful Romania.
She emphasized that Wonderful’s AI agents reduce operational costs and improve efficiency by shortening waiting times and enhancing the customer experience.
A career built on technology and leadership
With over 20 years of experience in the IT industry, Lucia Stoicescu has held top management roles in fintech, telecom, and medtech companies. Before joining Wonderful, she served as CEO of the Romanian software firm mindit.io. She is a Harvard GMP Alumni, holds an MBA from Université du Québec (UQAM), and a Master’s degree in Web Programming from the University of Bucharest.
Founded in 2025 by Bar Winkler (CEO) and Roey Lalazar (CTO), Wonderful aims to become a key player in Europe’s digital transformation through conversational AI innovation.
