Boeing Workers Reject Latest Contract Offer, Continue Strike in the U.S.

Boeing Defense workers in the St. Louis area have rejected the company’s latest labor contract proposal, extending a strike that has lasted nearly three months, Reuters reported via News.ro. The protest has already delayed the delivery of several fighter jet and military equipment programs.

The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) District 837 said after the vote that Boeing failed to meet the demands of its roughly 3,200 members.

The new five-year offer was nearly identical to previous proposals that workers had already rejected.

Boeing has repeatedly stated it would not significantly improve the offer. In September, IAM members approved an alternative four-year contract proposed by the union, but Boeing’s leadership declined to consider it.

According to IAM, the union’s version would add about $50 million to the total value of the agreement. Meanwhile, Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg is estimated to earn $22 million this year.

The dispute deepens at a sensitive time for Boeing, which continues to face production delays and mounting pressure to restore its credibility in the aerospace industry.
