Dedeman, the leading company in Romania’s construction materials and home improvement sector, is expanding its operations into the Republic of Moldova, marking its second international market following the announcement of the acquisition of the Praktiker Hellas chain in Greece.
The decision followed a meeting between Dedeman’s management and Prime Minister Dorin Recean, along with other government officials in Chișinău.
“Republic of Moldova is a market with real development potential, demonstrating that it is ready to become part of the European Union. This investment reflects our confidence in the future, stability, and prospects of the local economy, as well as our desire to contribute to community development through the experience and resources we have accumulated in Romania,” stated Dragoș Pavăl, President of Dedeman.
Dedeman’s expansion into the Republic of Moldova, a positive impact
The expansion is expected to generate a positive economic impact through partnerships with local producers and distributors, European retail and logistics standards, significant fiscal and social contributions, and professional training programs for employees. The company has not disclosed the investment value or detailed plans for this market.

Dedeman’s portfolio in Romania
In Romania, Dedeman already operates 64 physical stores, an online store, 5 logistics centers, and its own vehicle fleet, reporting a turnover of €2.65 billion in 2024 and employing over 13,500 people.
Dedeman will continue its expansion: by the end of the year, the store in Mediaș will open, and in 2026 a new store will launch in Giurgiu, completing its presence in all counties of the country. Pavăl Holding Group began its international investments in 2023 in the tourism sector and continued in 2025 with the acquisition of Praktiker Hellas.
