Sales Rise Despite Challenging Economic Context
Domeniile Davidescu, a family-owned winery with a four-generation tradition, announced a 24% increase in sales in the first half of 2025, despite economic and climate challenges. The company expects to close the year with a total sales growth of 25% and a harvest 10% larger than in 2024.
Company representatives attribute this positive performance to a well-executed growth strategy. Expanded retail presence – including listings in the Penny network – has increased visibility on the local market, while online sales continued to grow thanks to digital campaigns and collaborations with international marketplaces.
The HoReCa segment contributed significantly, especially in cities like Cluj-Napoca and Brașov, where Domeniile Davidescu strengthened partnerships with premium restaurants.

“We managed to increase sales by 24% in the first half of 2025. This shows that our development strategy – focusing on premium markets, continuous investments in quality, and positioning our wines as high-value products – has proven successful. In a challenging global market, where wine consumption is declining, wines that tell an authentic story and inspire trust benefit the most,” said Andrian Davidescu, CEO of Domeniile Davidescu.
White and Rosé Wines Lead Consumer Preference
The winery’s diverse portfolio has supported this growth. White and rosé wines recorded the highest sales, reflecting consumers’ preference for fresh, easy-to-drink wines.
Red wines maintained a loyal customer base, while Divin – launched in 2025 – quickly became a strategic product, listed nationwide and appreciated in the fine spirits segment. Sparkling wines and frizzantes attracted a growing audience seeking festive and lifestyle experiences.
Top-performing wines in the first half of the year included Rară Neagră & Saperavi, Rară Neagră sparkling, and Viorica & Pinot Grigio – labels awarded at international competitions and well-received in both retail and HoReCa channels.
2025 Harvest Brings Optimism
Despite a dry summer, Domeniile Davidescu expects a harvest 10% larger than in 2024. Grape quality remains high, and expanded stock will allow the release of limited editions of red and white wines, as well as the development of premium Divin.
In the final quarter, the winery will launch a traditionally fermented sparkling wine targeting the premium segment, along with a range of Divin aged 7, 10, and 20 years.
The company will participate in wine festivals in Romania and the Republic of Moldova and aims to strengthen its presence in international markets, where it is already active in more than seven countries.
The 2025 achievements continue the successes of 2024, when Domeniile Davidescu received the Royal House of Romania Supplier title, recognizing the quality and excellence of its wines.
