Hôtel Royal is hosting Europe’s first Evian Spa at the G7 Summit

Hôtel Royal in Évian-les-Bains, built at the beginning of the 20th century in honor of King Edward VII, still overlooks Lake Geneva as a true Belle Époque icon. Opened in 1909, the “grande dame” has long been a favorite retreat for royal families, global leaders and celebrities, and in recent years it has welcomed guests such as French President Emmanuel Macron.

Located in the heart of the Evian region, the hotel is owned by Danone, the parent company of the Evian water brand. This link to the local natural resources lies at the core of its wellness philosophy: the benefits of the mineral water, valued by locals for generations, are now translated into a contemporary approach to relaxation and health.

The 1,600-square-meter spa, fully renovated in early 2024, is the first Evian-branded spa in Europe. Guests can enjoy an extensive hydrotherapy circuit with outdoor baths, a snow room, cold-water immersion, a spectacular indoor pool, sauna and traditional treatments. One of the signature experiences is the “Water Journey Ritual”, a 150-minute program guided by a therapist, which includes hydromassage in a private steam room.

The rooms reflect the elegance of the era. The Royale penthouse features two bedrooms, separate bathrooms, a generous living area with billiard table, a bar stocked with French wines, champagne and Evian, plus a 65-square-meter terrace with views of the Alps, Lake Geneva and Lausanne. Designed for couples, the Belle Époque suite offers a separate bedroom, a spacious bathroom and furnished terraces overlooking the lake.

Wellness, fine dining and preparations for the 2026 G7 Summit

Service is tailored to demanding guests: a chilled bottle of Veuve Clicquot awaits in the suites on arrival (with French Bloom non-alcoholic sparkling as an option), private Mercedes transfers can be arranged from Geneva Airport, and a helipad is available for those who prefer to arrive by air. The concierge team can organize everything from lake cruises and private tastings at nearby wineries to the traditional filling of a bottle at the historic Cachat Spring, where the water reaches the surface after a 15-year journey from the Alps.

Heated pools, including an outdoor infinity pool that visually merges with Lake Geneva, reinforce the connection to the landscape. At night, the steam rising above the water adds a near-magical atmosphere. On the culinary side, Le Grand Salon, with neo-baroque frescoes by Gustave Louis Jaulmes, offers a refined setting for cocktails, while Michelin-starred restaurant Les Fresques showcases the region’s cuisine. Room service includes an exclusive partnership with Parisian producer Prunier, allowing guests to order premium caviar paired with a curated selection of champagnes.

According to Forbes, Hôtel Royal is now preparing for one of its most high-profile moments: the G7 Summit in 2026, scheduled to take place in Évian-les-Bains between 14 and 16 June, under France’s presidency. The event will gather leaders of the world’s major democracies to discuss security, the global economy, climate change and other strategic issues, further reinforcing the hotel’s status as a premier venue for international summits.
