IKEA reveals a new international collaboration with Swedish artist and designer Tekla Evelina Severin, known as Teklan, introducing a collection that reimagines how electronic devices fit into a home. Instead of treating tech as something to hide, the new series positions it as a visual statement shaped through colour, geometry and atmosphere.
A new way of integrating electronics at home
The concept stems from the belief that electronics should not be tucked away, but embraced as aesthetic elements.

“Many people see electronic devices strictly as functional objects. We want to change this perception,” says Sara Ottosson, Product Developer at IKEA Sweden. “We’ve learned that people want audio systems that deliver great sound and also look beautiful, complementing a room’s personality through sound, form and colour.”
The collection strongly reflects Teklan’s creative language: bold colour combinations, playful transitions between 2D and 3D, and expressive shapes. “Colour can completely change how we perceive an object. We wanted to give technology a friendly and warm character and add more expressiveness to people’s homes,” the artist notes.
SOLSKYDD audio line and a new fusion of light and sound
At the heart of the launch lies SOLSKYDD, a trio of round Bluetooth speakers designed by Swedish designer Ola Wihlborg. The range offers a small orange portable model with graphic details, a medium green version featuring diagonal stripes and a large textured orange speaker intended for wall mounting. All three models work within IKEA’s multi-speaker ecosystem and include the Spotify Tap function.
The collection also introduces KULGLASS, an object merging soft ambient lighting with audio functionality. The lamps appear in shades of green and reddish-brown with pink accents, shaped like playful reinterpretations of ice-cream cones. Teklan explains that some hues carry personal memories: “The mint green comes from my childhood. I searched for the exact shade of an old soap I remembered from my grandparents’ home.”
The series expands with an updated FADO round lamp, new colour versions of the VAPPEBY speaker and fourteen braided charging cables – SITTBRUNN, RUNDHULT and LILLHULT – designed with a retro climbing-rope aesthetic.
The IKEA × Teklan collection will be available worldwide, including in Romania, starting January 2026. Teklan is a multidisciplinary, award-winning artist whose work on colour and visual trends has been showcased internationally in cities such as Berlin, Los Angeles, Buenos Aires, Madrid, New York and Stockholm.
