Tickets for the 16th edition of Les Films de Cannes à Bucarest are now available on Eventbook.ro for Cinema Elvire Popesco, the Museum of the Romanian Peasant Cinema, and the Auditorium Hall of the National Museum of Art of Romania. The festival brings to Romania for the first time the Venice Golden Lion winner, Father Mother Sister Brother, directed by Jim Jarmusch, alongside other productions acclaimed on the international cinema stage.

Father Mother Sister Brother explores the complex relationships between children and parents in the United States, Dublin, and Paris. Jarmusch highlights unseen tensions and emotionally charged gestures between characters. The director thanked the jury for recognizing a “quiet” but profound film focused on humanity and empathy, according to Agerpres.

Yorgos Lanthimos’ new feature, Bugonia, tells a humorous and bizarre story about two men who kidnap the CEO of a pharmaceutical company, convinced she is an extraterrestrial entity threatening Earth. Actress Emma Stone, the film’s star, says it reflects a world where paranoia and detachment from reality become normal.

Park Chan-wook returns with No Other Choice, a satire inspired by Donald E. Westlake’s novel The Ax, in which a loyal worker resorts to extreme measures to find a job, sparking discussions about the role of political art in festivals. Italian documentary Below the Clouds captures the daily lives of people living under the dual threat of Mount Vesuvius and Campi Flegrei, inviting contemplation and introspection.
