Regina Maria Healthcare Network is expanding its national footprint by establishing two new surgical centers dedicated to the treatment of endometriosis. The new units will operate within Ponderas Academic Hospital in Bucharest and Regina Maria Cluj Hospital, joining the already functional center in Regina Maria Timișoara Hospital, News.ro reports.
The initiative is part of the broader development of the Endo Institute, created in 2015 in Timișoara as a multidisciplinary network focused on the diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of endometriosis. “To bring surgical expertise for endometriosis closer to patients, Regina Maria announces the national expansion of the Endo Institute with two new centers,” the company stated.
Access to minimally invasive and robotic treatments
Until recently, complex surgical procedures were performed exclusively in Timișoara, where the first Endo Institute surgical center was founded. With the addition of the Bucharest and Cluj centers, women across the country can now access minimally invasive treatments, including laparoscopic procedures and robot-assisted surgeries using the da Vinci system. “Behind the three surgical centers stand some of the most experienced teams in Romania in the treatment of endometriosis,” the company noted.
Patients benefit from consultations, investigations and full case assessments conducted by the Endo Board – a multidisciplinary committee including gynecologists, imaging specialists, surgeons, endocrinologists, fertility specialists and urologists. The board evaluates each case to determine the most effective, personalized treatment plan based on age and disease severity.
Endometriosis is among the most complex gynecological conditions, affecting around 190 million women worldwide and 500,000 in Romania, according to the World Health Organization. Approximately 10% of patients develop severe forms of the disease.
The da Vinci robotic system is used in all three Endo Institute centers in Timișoara, Bucharest and Cluj, supporting advanced surgical management for complex cases.
